Another early WAwineman classic, 1st posted on April 1, 2008:
Elegance, pure. Caleb Foster, don’t you ever change the recipe for this superb chardonnay. This chard’s appearance in the glass is second to none. It wouldn’t surprise me if I was told this was the wine pictured in Grover Washington’s ‘Winelight’ album. It’s sexy and, might I say, a powerful aphrodisiac. Viagra’s got nothing on this ‘little, yellow, different.’
Alcohol: 14%. Could use a remodel on the front label, but for $29…it’s jim-dandy. Nose: moderate flowers and a hint of citrus. Mouthfeel: juicy couture. Tail trail: 5 seconds. Flavors of peaches and nectarines and a hint of freshly squeezed lemons. Color: light straw and clear and defined.
No question…Conner Lee Vineyard on Radar Hill is the primo site for chard. Lots of fruit and little vanilla. If Rochioli sold it, it would go for at least $60 and that would mean I’d see this at Napa Rose in Disneyland for $25/glass. Rated: 100. Value: $50. Paid: $29. This is WAwineman…uncorked, uneducated, but not uncouth.
