Ad: Adams Bench Winery 2009 Mays Discovery Vineyard cabernet sauvignon

Dedicated to the Butler Bulldogs basketball team (my pick for 2013 national champs)…

So, when you visit this winery without an appointment (like they ‘recommend’), you get what you get. Sure, they’re a most sympathetic couple and they’re great for the wine industry. But, when you ask to take a picture of them and instead of saying the standard “Cheese!” to get them to smile, thinking you’re some ultra-cool hipster with a free ‘get out of jail’ pass to everything– you improvise and shout “One-two-Indiana Hoosiers basketball is OVERRATED! (click)” Well… you can tell below who’s the Hoosiers fan.

What I won’t show you is the next sequential picture of Tim, with his sinister cackle and Cheshire grin, “accidentally” pouring wine on my head. Suffice to say, please behave when you are at a Woodinville winery. This ain’t Walla Walla, gang…

Tasted at 57-66 degrees on the IR temp gun. Luxurious black core with garnet rims in the Riedel reveal the velvety, full-bodied aromas of black currant, mature cedar, thick raspberry, herb basket, and dried orange peel. Flavors evolve and endure on the palate with transitions of blackberry, baking spices, 70% cacao chocolate, thyme, and marjoram. Food pairing was… I forgot.

Alcohol: 14.8%. Horse Heaven Hills AVA. Single vineyard. Around 100 cases. Power: 3/5. Balance: 3/5. Depth: 3/5. Finesse: 3/5. Rated: 92. Sold out. Retailed for $52. Sample bottle. Music pairing: “Anything Could Happen” by Ellie Goulding. This is WAwineman… uncorked, uneducated but not uncouth.

The Hoosiers blew that game? I flicked through the channels the other day and saw it was on but didn’t watch. I still hold a spot in my heart for IU basketball since the mid-70’s national championship team. You might recognize of few the the mugs in this group photo shot Any guess who #33 and #21 might be in this photo? Here is the same person in 2012 Maybe these will bring a smile to your sad Hoosiers fan.

Oooops! A couple of the photo links got reversed, but you can figure it out.

The Hoosiers didn’t really blow that game… Butler allowed Indiana to get to overtime. A great, great game– something you won’t see in the Pac-12 this season.
Great photos! I don’t know much about that team; I only recall Isiah Thomas (11) and an Indiana team being the last to go undefeated (or something like that).

  4. wawineman says:

Is that #33 your brother or cousin?
omg, I just checked… Tom Abernathy and Quinn Buckner!

Whoa cool! Kinda like the Walk of Fame at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood… You guys have like Neanderthal-strength teeth, man…
