Walla Walla River Winery 2008 Cockburn Vineyard sangiovese

Walla Walla River Winery is the second label for Cougar Crest Winery. Although it is a Walla Walla winery, the Hansens do have a satellite tasting room in the Apple Farm Village (across Ross Andrew/Mark Ryan/Amavi/Pepper Bridge/Bookwalter) in the Hollywood School district of W-O-O-D-I-N-V-I-L-L-E. (Winery website has a different spelling of it) Dare I ask how you spell that anatomical part of the roof of the mouth, separating the oral cavity from the nasal cavity??

Tasted at 52-58 degrees on the IR temp gun. Color: black cherry soda. Nose: black cherry, red roses, red plum, red velvet cupcake. Mouthfeel: light-bodied. Tail trail: 7 seconds. Flavors: spicy black cherry, red licorice. Food pairing was spaghetti with Ragu Garden Combo pasta sauce. Nothing ethereal.

Alcohol: 14.2% (guessed 14.1%). Walla Walla Valley AVA. Zerba Cellars’ estate vineyard in Milton-Freewater, OR. Winemaker: Deborah Hansen. Power: 2/5. Balance: 2/5. Depth: 2/5. Finesse: 2/5. Rated: 88. Value: $18. Paid: $32. Music pairing: “Second Time Around” by Shalamar. This is WAwineman… uncorked, uneducated but not uncouth.
