Martedi Wines 2009 sangiovese

Tasted at 58-64 degrees on the IR temp gun. Color: magenta. Nose: alcohol punch to the schnozz, black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, blackened toast. Mouthfeel: full bodied. Tail trail: 7 seconds. Flavors: sting, black cherry, black licorice. Too hot for a sangiovese.

Alcohol: 14.6%. Yakima Valley AVA. Good with spaghetti but not potato chips, especially jalapeno Kettle Chips. Power: 2/5. Balance: 2/5. Depth: 2/5. Finesse: 2/5. Rated: 88. Value: $17. Paid: $20. This is WAwineman… uncorked, uneducated but not uncouth.

This is a great pizza wine and I think it hit it’s peak at some point in early last summer, shortly after they moved into the old Tefft Cellars space. I have found that a good after-work, weekday combination has been to order a take out pizza from “The Station” (enjoying a beer while you wait) and rolling down to Martedi for a quick tasting and some bottles to go. I also like the fact they have been staying open till 7PM.

Just curious, where did you find this for $20/bottle?

Absolutely a great weeknight pizza wine! Probably got it at a small store in Snohomish… just can’t remember the name. More and more great places in Woodinville to chill after work. The Station, The Commons, The Collective, Triplehorn, etc. They are all great hangouts!
Martedi’s open ’til 7pm? Just like Tefft used to. That area’s turning into a Little Italy with Facelli long established there.
