3 Horse Ranch Vineyards 2011 Reserve cabernet sauvignon – merlot (Idaho)

Tasted at 56-66 degrees on the IR temp gun. Nose: soapy black fruits, grilled salted pork, red plum. Color: deep garnet. Mouthfeel: medium-bodied. Tail trail: 8 seconds. Flavors plum, Bing cherry, raspberry, red currant, streak of red cedar, shy tannins, red licorice. Ok with grilled ribeye.

Alcohol: 13.3%. Snake River Valley AVA (Idaho). Unlike their syrah, this is more indicative of expectations of Idaho red wine. Power: 2/5. Balance: 2/5. Depth: 3/5. Finesse: 2/5. Value: $17. Paid: forgot. This is WAwineman… uncorked, uneducated but not uncouth.
